Re: What is the Most Historic Small Town in Ohio?
by Anonymous
While there are a few books on Kelleys Island, the latest has much more detail on how these island pioneer lived. Before the island was settled and civilized, it attracted a wide variety of rogues, murders, vagabonds and even a pirate. Its history starts with a French Canadian trapper named Cunningham, a war with England, and the first steamboat on the lake. Covering the period 1810-1861 you get all the stories behind these historic houses and the early settlers who built them. Leslie Korenko www.KelleysIslandStory.com
